Jackson County is responsible for tracking and reporting the annual volume of solid waste disposed in our landfills as well as the tonnage of material diverted from the landfills through reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting.

In 1999, Jackson County citizens diverted 35% of its solid waste from the area landfills. Our united goal is to increase this diversion to 42% of our solid waste from the Dry Creek Landfill by the end of the year 2001. This waste prevention and reuse and education program is just one step in meeting that goal.
